Lemons: the town's emblem

You'll see citrus everywhere during your break in Menton. You just have to look up whilst you're walking to see the fruit. Menton council has run the Lemon Festival since 1934 to celebrate citrus . The festival has a different theme every year and 2020's theme is: "world festivals".

"Lemon" tell you more about the fruit that Menton has always been famous for before experiencing a decline due to bad weather and the French Revolution from the Age of the Enlightenment. After several battles, the Menton Lemon was restored to its former glory in the 21st century thanks to the ACPM (Menton lemon promotion association). The town's signature citrus earned the name "Citron de Menton" as Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) in 2015.
