Menton and where to take a stroll

Nestled between Monaco and the Italian borderMenton has perfect weather all year round. It's pretty hot in summer and pleasantly sunny in winter. We bring you our two favourite spots for a sun-drenched stroll:

  • Visitors love the bustling Esplanade des Sablettes. It's a big space ideal for gazing at the old town's colourful buildings and taking a dip with views of Menton Bay. On the way, make a beeline for Menton's old port and soak up the unobstructed views of Basilique Saint-Michel-Archange
  • The Promenade du Soleil is the perfect place for a stroll along the Mediterranean. It's the place to see stunning colourful buildings and boutiques as you feast your eyes on the stunning bay views. If you like having a flutter then you'll love the Casino Barrière de Menton's prime seaside location.

Lemons: the town's emblem

You'll see citrus everywhere during your break in Menton. You just have to look up whilst you're walking to see the fruit. Menton council has run the Lemon Festival since 1934 to celebrate citrus . The festival has a different theme every year and 2020's theme is: "world festivals".

"Lemon" tell you more about the fruit that Menton has always been famous for before experiencing a decline due to bad weather and the French Revolution from the Age of the Enlightenment. After several battles, the Menton Lemon was restored to its former glory in the 21st century thanks to the ACPM (Menton lemon promotion association). The town's signature citrus earned the name "Citron de Menton" as Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) in 2015.
